The co operatives
society is formed to protect the rights of poor people. In 1844 the movement
of co operation was started when 28 flannel weavers decided to run their own
store called “ Rochelle society of equitable pioneers ” in Rochelle England.
The aim was to provide basic necessities at cheaper rates. It was a consumer co
operative society. This movement led to the formation of co operatives in
various fields. A co operative society is formed by the people of limited means
for self help through mutual help. The society has a democratic SE up managed
by the members. In our country the co operative societies can be set up under

1925. The co operative rules 1927 are applicable for their working.the
societies are registered under multi unit societies act 1942 for doing business
in two or more provinces.
